FOMO – another 4 letter F word

no one ever said on their deathbed “I wish I spent more time at work”

The world today – the online community – believes it has “something” to say that is important. We are bombarded daily with headlines, newsletters, emails and ads promoting the things you should or need in your life. You should or need to watch/read/listen/subscribe/buy/eat etc these things to enrich your life without FOMO.

FOMO from https://www.thetambellinigroup.com/the-student-information-system-dilemma-when-fud-meets-fatigue-the-whole-industry-suffers/

Wikipedia defines (FOMO) Fear of missing out as the “feeling of apprehension that one is either not in the know or missing out on information, events, experiences, or life decisions that could make one’s life better.” Some say FOBO – the Fear of Better Options.

But who says that information, event, experience or life decision is important? Surely it is based on someone else’s experience, their education, their income status, their upbringing etc… not necessarily what you should know or need. Like when those people tell you that “You’ll like this book” or this movie or this piece of cake or brand of coffee… it’s all subjective.

From FOMO to JOMO – the Joy Of Missing Out.

It refers to the pleasure to be had from enjoying your current activity rather than worrying that other people might be having more fun.

If I don’t know about it then am I missing out? What will happen if I miss out? what am I afraid of? Someone else’s opinion, judgement, tweet, email, comment?

ROMO – the Relief of Missing Out – or some still say the Risk of Missing Out.

FONKU – the Fear of Not Keeping Up…

Again I ask – who says that those things, events, information to watch/read/listen/subscribe/buy/eat will enrich your life? Only YOU can determine that for yourself. iii – is it important? – it isn’t important. Let it go, forget it, put it down… it wasn’t important… what wasn’t?

Now people in the online community offer another way of life… slow down, get rid of things, have less. They say this will enrich your life. But to really enrich your life – they ask you to pay them for more premium content ! – haha 🤣

To all of them I say – DILLIGAF

Look up Kevin Bloody Wilson DILLIGAF on YouTube…

its not “Do I Look Like I Give a FOMO” 🤣🤣🤣
